Diane Kaut’s son Tyler has Down syndrome and, like most parents with a disabled child, she worried that he might not be accepted and liked at school. Well she no longer needs to worry about that because 18 year old Tyler was just elected homecoming king at Southeast Polk High School in Pleasant Hill, Iowa.

Tyler was so excited he jumped for joy when his name was called out at a school assembly. His peers cheered for him, gave Tyler a standing ovation and tons of high fives for his win.

Tyler is a popular kid at school and his mom says he’s had an amazing experience in school. Being crowned homecoming king was just the icing on the cake! The King’s mom explains:  “The kids at school are just so awesome. They are real kind and accepting, and they just offer him unconditional love.
