Time and weather were both on my side this weekend, so after visiting Arthur on Saturday, it was off to Port Burwell on Sunday. The weather was perfect for riding, the scenery was gorgeous, and the stops were definitely worth it.This Sunday’s trip was on the recommendation of Chrissy, who said ‘Dos Gringos‘ restaurant in Port Burwell was a must-try. I’d never been to Port Burwell, so why not spin 120km on a sunny Sunday morning? Lots of beautiful farmland (mostly tobacco, some ginseng) added to the scenery along the way, and I’d highly recommend Lakeshore Road between Port Rowan and Port Burwell as a scenic ride. Right along the water (obviously) and a few gentle twists and turns. As an aside, I’m not sure Port Rowan is a necessary stop on the way to Port Burwell, but we were working without a map and got a little twisted up south of Paris. It happens, right?

Port Burwell is a nice little beach town and also home to a marine museum and historic lighthouse. There were LOTS of bikes and, if I’d been more on the ball, I would have taken pictures of the rows of bikes lined up along the main drag. But I was on a mission! And that mission was to get to Dos Gringos, as recommended by Chrissy. I had a couple of tacos and then I “Gringo-sized” my order, which meant the fries came topped with beef and cheese. So good! On a related note, I think I’m going to put on 20 pounds this summer with all these restaurant recommendations. But what the heck, it’s fun!

Looking forward to more of your recommendations so I can visit more of your favourite small towns.

See ya down the road,

Farwell
