Kitchener minor hockey players got the thrill of their season on Saturday at the 5th annual “Hockeytown” in downtown Kitchener. It’s like KMHA‘s own Heritage Classic outdoor game, where kids get the chance to play on the ice outside Kitchener City Hall.

I had the privilege of being the MC for the day at Hockeytown. It’s always so much fun. The kids have a blast, the parents and grandparents didn’t freeze (it was only minus one!), and it’s all in pursuit of the coveted Mayor’s Cup. The winning team in each of the five games played gets to hoist the Cup and have their picture taken with it.

For most of the kids out at Hockeytown Saturday, it was their second game of the day. But you couldn’t tell by the energy of the kids. They could have played all day! In fact, I think they did. Thanks to those of you who said hi! I’m already looking forward to next year.
