It’s National Blah Blah Blah Day. I get it.

After a video went viral online over two African American men being arrested for trespassing at Starbucks in Philadelphia, the company has now elected to close all U.S. stores May 29th for Racism-Bias training.

The video grabbed national attention, outcry from various celebrities and activists, and also ignited protests at the location.

From Reuters:

Starbucks Corp  will close 8,000 company-owned U.S. cafes for the afternoon on May 29 so 175,000 employees can undergo racial tolerance training in response to protests and calls for boycotts after the arrest of two black men waiting in a Philadelphia store.

The company said in the Tuesday announcement that it will also provide training materials for non-company workers at the roughly 6,000 licensed Starbucks cafes that will remain open in locations such as grocery stores and airports.

The announcement from world’s biggest coffee company comes as it tries to cool tensions after the Philadelphia incident last week sparked accusations of racial profiling at the chain, which is the subject of a boycott campaign on social media.

Is it really that hard to say “no” to a friend’s wedding? Especially when being asked to be in the wedding party? For one gal in the UK, it is.

Georgina Childs says she has been to 20 weddings in 4 years, acting as a bridesmaid in 7. All those weddings have totaled nearly $14k in expenses, forcing the 30-year-old PR accountant to move back in with her parents.

From the Sun:

The PR account manager from Woodford, Essex, got herself into £2,000 of debt and had to move back in with her with parents after attending 20 weddings and 12 hen dos in four years. …

“I can’t remember the last time I bought something new for me that wasn’t wedding-related. I’m still chipping away at £1,200 worth of credit card debt. Before I moved out, a friend came to stay and her face dropped when she saw all of the invites pinned to my fridge.

“Even when I arrived at my parents’ there were two new invites waiting for me. I’d love to set a limit of only attending one or two weddings a year, just to give my bank balance a chance to recover.

WHAT?! Just say no!
