I have a returning robin at my house. Every spring she builds a nest in my front porch light, hatches some babies, and goes on with her summer. But I’m not sure she appreciates me.

I love all creatures. OK, I love all creatures except cats. So this bird and I have been getting along for more than a decade. Every year she comes back and every year I leave her in as much peace and quiet as I can. Sure, she sometimes poops on the stoop and right on the front door…but it’s not like you can potty train a robin. I even use my back door so I don’t disrupt her day while she’s nesting. Yup, I’ll change my routine for a damn robin.

And this is the thanks I get.

I come out to my bike last night, ready for a quick ride to end my day, and this is what I find. I mean, this looks deliberate to me. We’re not talking about a little bit that missed the bowl here. This is a full on spray bomb. And I’m a little upset about it. I’ve been nothing but nice to that damn bird!

We’re officially in a neighbour war…and there’s no way the robin is going to worm its way out of this one.
