What a day we had at the Sip and Bite in Elmira on Friday! Not only did we get to meet so many of you as we did a live broadcast from the restaurant but we also had the chance to get a little head start on the annual Elmira Maple Syrup Festival. And to top it all off, like that dollop of butter on top of a stack of pancakes, we were doing a little fundraising, too. Turns out it was a huge success!

Naide, the owner of the Sip and Bite, put on a pancake breakfast with proceeds being donated to Cystic Fibrosis. It’s a cause that’s very near and dear to my heart (I lost two sisters to the disease). Naide knew this, and that’s why she offered to host the fundraiser. She also left a donation jar in the restaurant, which had $309.80 in it by the end of the day. Add another $306 in pancake sales and we were up to $615.80 in donations to Cystic Fibrosis — all thanks to YOU!

But wait…there’s more.

Naide and the Sip and Bite decided to “round up” the total by adding another $384.20 to the kitty, meaning Cystic Fibrosis comes away with a $1000 donation! This money will go directly towards research that’s being done to find a cure or control for Cystic Fibrosis. It’s one of those occasions where “thank you” just doesn’t seem like enough. But it’s all I’ve got, so, THANK YOU!

I’m lucky to be surrounded by such great friends in such a caring community. And, not to overstate the obvious, but….check out that picture! Turns out I’m surrounded by beautiful women, too. Talk about twice blessed. 🙂
